More about 48

48 launched in February 2012 as 48 Months, a SIM-only brand for 18 to 22 year olds run by Telefónica on O2 Ireland's network. When Three took over O2 Ireland in 2015, 48 came with it, and it now runs on Three Ireland.

48's data doesn't use Three's APN. Its APN, 48months.liffeytelecom.com, points to Liffey Telecom, which handles data for 48 and Tesco Mobile, and the MMS server sits on a private address, 10.1.11.19. The old 48 Months name survives in the APN.

48 has no eSIM, VoLTE or Wi-Fi Calling, and 5G on one plan only. Help runs through 48's online community.

48 shares more than masts with Tesco Mobile Ireland. Both SIMs carry the network code 272 11, and both use the same MMSC, http://mmc1/servlets/mms, and MMS proxy, 10.1.11.19 on port 8080. Only the APN differs, so a guide for the wrong brand gets you picture messages but no data.
