More about An Post Mobile

An Post and Vodafone Ireland announced the service in December 2008, and it launched as Postfone in May 2010, sold in about 300 post offices. Early rates were 20c a minute and 9c a text to any network. It now trades as An Post Mobile, with prepay plans topped up every 28 days.

The old name lives on in the APN. An Post Mobile SIMs need isp.postfone.ie, not Vodafone's live.vodafone.com, even though they carry Vodafone's network code, 272 01. An Post's iPhone guide warns that the Personal Hotspot field may still show live.vodafone.com and needs changing too.

An Post's mobile pages advertise 4G coverage and don't mention 5G, VoLTE or eSIM. An Post says customers who got their SIM before September 2025 need to upgrade to get its latest plan improvements. Call 1747 from the phone to hear your balance.
