How to enter APN settings
Open Access Point Names
Go to
Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile network → Access Point Names. On some phones it's underSettings → Connections → Mobile networks.Add a new APN
Tap + (or the menu → New APN) and set APN to
48months.liffeytelecom.com. Fill any other non-blank values from the table above and leave the rest as default.Save and select it
Save from the menu, then select the new 48 APN and toggle Airplane Mode on for ten seconds so the change takes effect.
Open the APN screen
Tap
Settings → Mobile Service → Mobile Data Network. On some iPhones the menu is called Mobile Data. If you don't see this option, 48 locks APN editing, so contact them or install a carrier profile.Enter the APN
Under Mobile Data, set APN to
48months.liffeytelecom.com. Leave Username and Password blank unless the table above lists them.Save and restart data
Go back to apply the change, then toggle Airplane Mode on for ten seconds so the iPhone re-registers with 48.
Common issues
The new APN won't save. On many Android phones the APN only saves from the menu, or when you back out of the edit screen. Open the list again and check it's there and selected.
Data works but MMS doesn't. Check whether your phone uses one APN or two. On Android, open Access Point Names. One entry covering internet and MMS needs the type default,supl,mms. If you see separate entries, put the MMS values on the MMS one.
No data abroad. Roaming data needs Data Roaming on and the network chosen by hand.

Does 48 need a username?
Some setups use the username user, others leave it blank. Start with it blank. If data won't connect, enter user and set authentication to PAP.
Why does the MMSC look incomplete?
http://mmc1/servlets/mms is a short internal address that only works inside the network. It's correct as written. Copy it exactly, with no .ie or .com added.
Can I use Three's APN on a 48 SIM?
No. 3ireland.ie is for Three's own SIMs. A 48 SIM needs 48months.liffeytelecom.com, even though both run on Three's masts.
Does 48 support eSIM?
No. 48 is sold as a physical SIM only.
Why won't my iPhone let me edit the APN?
Some carriers manage the iPhone APN through a hidden carrier profile, so the fields are locked or missing. That's normal. Resetting network settings re-pulls the profile and fixes most iPhone data problems without typing anything.
