More about Tesco Mobile Ireland
Tesco announced its Irish mobile service in December 2006 as a joint venture with O2 Ireland, and it went on sale in 2007. It was Ireland's second MVNO. When Three bought O2 Ireland, O2's half passed to Three, and in 2017 Tesco Ireland bought it out to take full ownership. Three still carries the traffic.
Tesco Mobile's data doesn't use Three's APN. Like 48, it routes through Liffey Telecom, so the APN is tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com and the MMS server is the same private address 48 uses, 10.1.11.19. In the third quarter of 2025 Tesco Mobile held 8.1% of the Irish market, the largest share of any MVNO.
Tesco's plans include 5G data. Tesco Mobile has no eSIM, VoLTE or Wi-Fi Calling. Tesco Mobile UK is a separate company on Virgin Media O2's network, with different settings.
