More about Telus
Telus Mobility started in Edmonton in 1983 as AGT Mobility, part of Alberta Government Telephones, Telus's predecessor. BC Tel merged with Telus in 1999, and Telus bought Clearnet Communications in 2000. Its head office is in Vancouver, and it had 10.1 million subscribers in the second quarter of 2024.
Telus launched HSPA+ on November 5, 2009, on 3G equipment it largely shares with Bell, shut down its CDMA network on May 31, 2017, and launched 5G in 2020. Phones on Telus use the APN sp.telus.com, with picture messages through the proxy mmscproxy.mobility.ca on port 8799.
Koodo, launched in 2008, and Public Mobile, which Telus has run since October 2013, are Telus's own brands. Each has its own APN and its own MMS address on the same proxy.
