Koodo Mobile launched on March 17, 2008, as a lower-priced Telus brand aimed at students. Its head office is in Toronto.
Koodo runs on Telus, but its SIMs carry their own APN, sp.koodo.com, and its own MMS address, http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/koodo/mmsc, on Telus's MMS proxy, mmscproxy.mobility.ca, port 8799. Phones tell Koodo SIMs from Telus SIMs by an ID stored on the SIM.
