More about Rogers
Rogers Wireless was set up on February 4, 1983, and its predecessor, Cantel, launched service on July 1, 1985. It traded as Cantel, Cantel AT&T and Rogers AT&T Wireless before taking the Rogers Wireless name in December 2003. In 2004 Rogers bought Microcell, the company behind Fido, together with Sprint Canada, for $1.4 billion.
Rogers launched 5G in January 2020 and shut down its 850 MHz 3G network on August 7, 2025. Its head office is in Toronto, and it had 12.5 million subscribers in the second quarter of 2024. Rogers publishes one APN for phones, ltemobile.apn, and a separate one, ltedata.apn, for tethering.
Fido and Chatr are Rogers' own lower-priced brands on the same network. Fido shares the ltemobile.apn APN but has its own MMS server. Chatr has its own APN, chatrweb.apn.
