Background
More about Fido
Fido launched on October 25, 1996, from Microcell Telecommunications, and was the first carrier in Canada with a GSM network. Rogers bought Microcell in November 2004 for an estimated $1.4 billion, when Fido had about 1.28 million customers. Fido's head office is at Place Bonaventure in Montreal.
Fido now runs on Rogers, and its phones use the same APN, ltemobile.apn. Its picture messages go through Fido's own server, http://mms.fido.ca, not Rogers'. Fido's older APN for phones without LTE, Fido-core-appl1.apn, is still on its support page.
