How to enter APN settings
Open Access Point Names
Go to
Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile network → Access Point Names. On some phones it's underSettings → Connections → Mobile networks.Add a new APN
Tap + (or the menu → New APN) and set APN to
internet. Fill any other non-blank values from the table above and leave the rest as default.Save and select it
Save from the menu, then select the new Virgin Media Ireland APN and toggle Airplane Mode on for ten seconds so the change takes effect.
Open the APN screen
Tap
Settings → Mobile Service → Mobile Data Network. On some iPhones the menu is called Mobile Data. If you don't see this option, Virgin Media Ireland locks APN editing, so contact them or install a carrier profile.Enter the APN
Under Mobile Data, set APN to
internet. Leave Username and Password blank unless the table above lists them.Save and restart data
Go back to apply the change, then toggle Airplane Mode on for ten seconds so the iPhone re-registers with Virgin Media Ireland.
Common issues
The configuration message never arrived. Virgin sends one to most phones. If it doesn't come, type internet as the APN by hand and restart.
Picture messages fail. That's expected. Virgin Media doesn't support MMS. Send photos through WhatsApp, iMessage or another app.
A UK APN is selected. Remove goto.virginmobile.uk or any other UK Virgin profile and use internet.
