How to enter APN settings
Open Access Point Names
Go to
Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile network → Access Point Names. On some phones it's underSettings → Connections → Mobile networks.Add a new APN
Tap + (or the menu → New APN) and set APN to
mobile.sky. Fill any other non-blank values from the table above and leave the rest as default.Save and select it
Save from the menu, then select the new Sky Mobile Ireland APN and toggle Airplane Mode on for ten seconds so the change takes effect.
Open the APN screen
Tap
Settings → Mobile Service → Mobile Data Network. On some iPhones the menu is called Mobile Data. If you don't see this option, Sky Mobile Ireland locks APN editing, so contact them or install a carrier profile.Enter the APN
Under Mobile Data, set APN to
mobile.sky. Leave Username and Password blank unless the table above lists them.Save and restart data
Go back to apply the change, then toggle Airplane Mode on for ten seconds so the iPhone re-registers with Sky Mobile Ireland.
Common issues
The APN vanished after saving. The MCC or MNC is wrong, often the UK's 234 and 57 copied from a Sky UK guide. Android hides an APN whose codes don't match the SIM. Set them to 272 and 25.
Only 4G, never 5G. On some Pixel phones this happens because the phone doesn't yet recognise Sky's network code for 5G. A software update is the fix. Changing the APN won't help.
Data drops abroad. Request the settings again from My Sky before you travel, and check Data Roaming is on.
Frequently asked questions
My phone says MCC 272 and a Sky guide says 234. Which is right?
272 in Ireland. 234 and 57 are Sky Mobile UK's codes. Entering them on an Irish SIM can make the APN disappear from the list. Leave the MCC as 272 and the MNC as 25.
Can Sky send the settings to my phone?
Yes. Sign in to My Sky, open the Mobile tab and choose Manage, pick the SIM, then Network and controls and Request network settings. The message can take up to five minutes to arrive.
Does Sky Mobile Ireland support MMS?
Sky doesn't support picture messaging in Ireland, so there are no MMS values to enter. Photos sent over WhatsApp or iMessage use ordinary data and work with mobile.sky.
Does Sky Mobile Ireland support eSIM?
Yes. Sky supports eSIM on iPhone.
Why won't my iPhone let me edit the APN?
Some carriers manage the iPhone APN through a hidden carrier profile, so the fields are locked or missing. That's normal. Resetting network settings re-pulls the profile and fixes most iPhone data problems without typing anything.
