More about Jio
Jio, formally Reliance Jio Infocomm, was registered in Ahmedabad on 15 February 2007 as Infotel Broadband Services and took the Reliance Jio name in January 2013. It is a subsidiary of Jio Platforms, headquartered in Navi Mumbai, and a different company from Reliance Communications, though the two share spectrum in the 800 MHz band.
After a beta for partners and employees from 27 December 2015, Jio opened to the public on 5 September 2016 with free data and calls until 31 December, an offer later extended to 31 March 2017. It launched 5G in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai on 5 October 2022, and finished its nationwide 5G rollout in August 2023. Its JioPhone feature phones, the first released in August 2017, are 4G VoLTE phones.
Jio uses one APN, JioNet, at home and abroad, and an iPhone sets itself up.
