Background
More about Consumer Cellular
Consumer Cellular was founded in October 1995 in Portland, Oregon, by John Marick and Greg Pryor. It became a preferred provider for AARP members in 2008, and the private equity firm GTCR bought it in October 2020 for about $2.3 billion. Its head office is in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Consumer Cellular has used capacity on both AT&T and T-Mobile, and has settings for each. New lines have gone on AT&T only since 2024. An Android phone on an AT&T SIM uses the APN ereseller with AT&T's MMS server. A T-Mobile SIM uses wholesale, with the MMSC http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc.
