More about Virgin Mobile
Virgin Mobile launched in November 1999 as a joint venture of One2One and the Virgin Group. It ran on One2One's network, which became T-Mobile and then EE. NTL:Telewest bought it in July 2006, and the company became Virgin Media in 2007. Liberty Global bought Virgin Media in 2013.
Virgin Mobile announced in 2019 that it would leave EE for Vodafone from 2021. Instead, Virgin Media merged with O2 on 1 June 2021 to form Virgin Media O2, and Virgin Mobile became an MVNO on O2's network. Its closure was confirmed in January 2023. Customers moved onto O2 plans between March and August 2023, and Virgin Mobile ceased trading on 31 August 2023.
