How to enter APN settings

Open Access Point Names
Go to
Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile network → Access Point Names. On some phones it's under Settings → Connections → Mobile networks.2
Add a new APN
Tap + (or the menu → New APN) and set APN to
au.au-net.ne.jp. Fill any other non-blank values from the table above and leave the rest as default.3
Save and select it
Save from the menu, then select the new au (KDDI) APN and toggle Airplane Mode on for ten seconds so the change takes effect.
Tip
After saving, toggle Airplane Mode on and off for 10 seconds. This forces the phone to re-register with the network and pick up the new APN.
Troubleshooting
Common issues
No data on an unlocked or imported phone. Enter the APN by hand and restart. Imported phones often skip au's automatic setup, so the APN field starts empty. Set the APN to au.au-net.ne.jp with username user@au.au-net.ne.jp, password au, and CHAP authentication.
Connects but no data. Double-check the authentication type is CHAP and the username includes the full @au.au-net.ne.jp suffix. A missing suffix or the wrong auth type is the usual cause.
Settings reset after an update. A software update occasionally clears the APN. Re-enter au.au-net.ne.jp with its username and password.
