Mobile Networks in Spain

Spain has four mobile networks: Movistar, Vodafone, Orange and the newest, Digi. Yoigo used to be the fourth, and its radio network was switched off in August 2025. Every other brand you can buy a SIM from rents space on one of the four.

Movistar is Telefonica's brand and the former state operator, with the widest network in rural Spain. Vodafone has been owned by Zegona since 2024. Orange merged with MásMóvil in 2024 to form MasOrange, and completed its purchase of the whole company on 8 June 2026. Digi switched on its first own antenna in May 2025 and still roams on Movistar where it has none.

The brands on top:

• On Orange: Yoigo, Pepephone, Simyo and Lebara, all MasOrange brands.
• On Vodafone: Lowi.
• On Movistar: O2.

Lowi and O2 are the operators' own low-cost brands. Pepephone, Simyo and Lebara are MVNOs.

Brands that changed network

Yoigo's own radio network was switched off on 13 August 2025. Yoigo, Pepephone and Lebara customers now use Orange's network, with no SIM or settings change. Lebara used to run on Vodafone, so a guide that gives Lebara's MMS settings with Vodafone's proxy is out of date.

Lycamobile Spain has gone. MasOrange moved its prepaid customers to Llamaya from 2 February 2026, with plans unchanged.

Vodafone has started selling a second low-cost brand, Finetwork, beside Lowi.

Same masts, different APN

Spanish brands rarely share their host's APN. Vodafone uses airtelwap.es, with no username or password, and guides that give ac.vodafone.es are out of date. Lowi, on Vodafone's network, has its own: lowi.private.omv.es for data and mms.lowi.omv.es for picture messages. Orange uses orangeworld, and Yoigo and Pepephone both use internet. Movistar and O2 use telefonica.es, and Digi uses internet.digimobil.es.

MMS

Orange, Lowi, Vodafone and Movistar publish or have long used MMS settings. Digi, Yoigo and Pepephone list none on their settings pages, and Lebara's old MMS profile pointed at Vodafone, so the pages for those brands leave MMS out. Where MMS fails with the right settings, use RCS or a messenger such as WhatsApp.

eSIM and switching

All four networks sell eSIM on recent phones, and an eSIM line normally gets its settings during activation, so you rarely type the APN on one. Porting your number is free and completes within a working day.

When data stops after a SIM swap, a reset or a new phone, check the APN first. Find your network above and copy its values exactly.
