Background
More about Telcel
Telcel began as Radiomóvil Dipsa, which won the concession to run mobile radiotelephone service in Mexico City in 1984. The Telcel brand was created in 1989, when service started in Mexico City. Telcel is owned by América Móvil and based in Mexico City.
Telcel launched 3G on 850 MHz on 25 February 2008 and LTE in 2012, and opened 5G in test mode in 2020. Its 5G is non-standalone, so calls on it need VoLTE. FreedomPop and Oui Móvil run on Telcel's network.
Telcel uses two APNs, internet.itelcel.com for data and mms.itelcel.com for picture messages, each with its own login.
