Background
More about O2
O2 in Germany began as Viag Interkom, founded in 1995 by British Telecommunications, VIAG and Telenor, with its network opening in 1998. It took the O2 name when BT's mobile arm was demerged in 2001. On 1 October 2014 Telefónica Germany bought E-Plus, and in 2016 the E-Plus brand was dropped; the two networks were merged into one by August 2017.
Aldi Talk, Blau and Lebara run on it, and some klarmobil tariffs do. Its APN is internet, or pinternet.interkom.de on prepaid. O2 ended MMS on 30 June 2026.
