How to enter APN settings

Open Access Point Names

Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile network → Access Point Names. On some phones it's under Settings → Connections → Mobile networks.

Add a new APN

Tap + (or the menu → New APN) and set APN to surf.br. Fill any other non-blank values from the table above and leave the rest as default.

Save and select it

Save from the menu, then select the new Surf Telecom APN and toggle Airplane Mode on for ten seconds so the change takes effect.

Tip

After saving, toggle Airplane Mode on and off for 10 seconds. This forces the phone to re-register with the network and pick up the new APN.

Troubleshooting

Common issues

No data after activating a Surf SIM. As an MVNO, Surf doesn't always auto-configure the way a TIM SIM does. Add the 'surf.br' APN by hand, leave username and password blank, save it, select it as active, and restart.

Data works but MMS won't send. Surf carries picture messages over TIM. If MMS fails while browsing works, set the MMSC to http://mms.tim.br and the MMS proxy to 189.40.191.96:8080, and make sure mobile data is on.

On a Surf-platform brand and 'surf.br' doesn't connect. Surf powers several smaller branded operators, and some ship their own APN value. Check the activation leaflet or your operator's app for the exact APN if 'surf.br' fails.
