More about Telstra
Telstra began on July 1, 1975, as Telecom Australia, and took the Telstra name for its international business in 1993 and at home in 1995. The government sold it in three stages, in 1997, 1999 and 2006. Its head office is the Telstra Corporate Centre in Melbourne.
Telstra launched its Next G network on October 6, 2006, 4G on 1800 MHz on September 26, 2011, and 5G on 3500 MHz in May 2020, and shut down 3G on October 28, 2024. Telstra uses the APN telstra.wap on phones and keeps telstra.internet for mobile broadband and hotspots, with a separate APN, telstra.mms, for picture messages.
Belong, launched in 2013, is Telstra's own low-cost brand. Boost Mobile and ALDI Mobile also run on Telstra, and Telstra agreed to buy Boost in December 2024. Each has its own settings.
