MNC (Mobile Network Code) — Definition

Mobile Network Code

The MNC, or Mobile Network Code, is a two- or three-digit number that identifies a specific carrier within a country.

If the MCC says which country, the MNC says which carrier in that country. Verizon in the US, for instance, uses MNC 480 under MCC 311.

In practice

The MNC appears right beside the MCC in APN settings, and like the MCC it's usually set automatically from your SIM. Together the two codes form the network identifier that tools and carriers use to recognise a SIM. You can look up any pair with our MCC-MNC lookup tool.
